Ilse Bing by Abe Frajndlich, New York City 1986

This photographic sequel was shot exactly 55 years after Ilse Bing’s original Self-Portrait with Leica of 1931. Abe Frajndlich photographed the avant-garde “Queen of the Leica” in NYC. Together with the same Leica II camera and the same flamboyant jewellery on her cuff, the portrait quotes the famous icon without falling into cheap imitation.
